Bret & Kris
adoptive family profile
     Bret & Kris

Bret
I am of German, English and Irish heritage and have brown hair and brown eyes. I have a degree in natural resources and work as an aquatic biologist for a government agency. I love spending time with family, including a younger brother and a younger sister. Some of my hobbies include bird-watching, fly-fishing and especially canoeing—I've even take a few week-long canoe trips in northern Minnesota. I have been a volunteer mentor to a 13-year old boy for several years now. We enjoy fun activities like going to movies and parks, as well as working on homework together.

Kris
I am of German, Welsh and French ancestry and have brown hair and blue eyes. I have degrees in psychology and education and work for a small advertising agency. I have four younger brothers—one is married and he and his wife are expecting their first child, and one is engaged—so our family continues to grow! I like to travel, read, write, make handmade cards, cross-stitch, do yoga, and bike. I also enjoy renovating and redecorating our home.

Our Family
We have known each other for nearly 14 years, and have been married for 8. We're the best of friends, have a lot of fun together, and can't wait to share the joy of parenting. We live with our dog, Gus, who we've had since he was 6 weeks old (he's 9 now and shows no signs of slowing down!). One of our favorite things to do together is to watch college football. We also actively give of our time, resources, and talents to our church and other organizations. We spend as much time as we can with our extended families, including taking an annual vacation to a cabin with Kris's family. Bret's family will be moving to the Cincinnati area soon, so our child will have grandparents and an aunt and uncle just minutes away.

Our Home
Our home has lots of room for kids to play, both inside and out. It's the kind of home where a kid can be a kid—there are no museum-quality rooms where no one's allowed! It's comfortable, warm and inviting, and we have a big yard for kids to romp. We live in an excellent school district because we believe education is very important. This is the home we plan to stay in until we retire, so our child will also have the stability of one home and one school district throughout his or her childhood.
